English Language Development

Welcome to our English Language Development (ELD) program!

All identified multilingual students receive language instruction in various classroom settings. Lessons are delivered in English in the areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing and are connected to grade level standards and learning. Each year, students take an English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA) in order to track their growth.

 We identify students for ELD instruction using information from the language use survey on the registration form. When a family indicates they are multilingual or that their child is consistently exposed to another language, ELD staff give a language assessment from the state of Oregon. We celebrate and value multilingualism!
